What comes to mind when you think of Labor Day? Parades…picnics…family reunions…camping…giving thanks. Aside from looking forward to a long weekend, a day off from work or a family picnic, do you know why we celebrate Labor Day? This day’s origins span from a time in the late 1800s when building our country’s economic growth and prosperity were of utmost importance. It was felt that celebrating the American workforce would contribute to our country’s well-being and promote the nation’s strength.
